SHE WHO RISES

A Mixed-Media Portrait Series

Ignite Photographic Club Exhibition | 7 November 2026

She Who Rises is a mixed-media portrait series by photographer and visual artist Grace Rémondo, exploring the relationship between the body, the earth and the process of becoming.

Through three interconnected works – Tension of Field, Skin of the Earth and Dance of Becoming – the series traces an emotional journey from tension and vulnerability towards connection, transformation and renewed strength.

Combining photographic portraiture with organic materials and hand-crafted interventions, Rémondo moves beyond the photographic image to create tactile expressions of personal experience. The incorporation of roots, stained paper and delicate layers of mixed media brings the human body into dialogue with the natural world, suggesting that growth and transformation are not always linear processes.

At its heart, She Who Rises reflects on the capacity to find strength through moments of uncertainty and change. It considers the body not merely as a physical presence, but as a witness to experience and a landscape in which transformation unfolds.

The series invites viewers to reflect on their own experiences of becoming, and on the quiet resilience that allows us to find our footing and rise again.
