I Have a Dream… at To Dance with Light

I am delighted to announce that the ongoing series I Have a Dream… will be exhibited as part of To Dance with Light, a group exhibition at Overberg Contemporary Art (OCA) in Napier, Western Cape, curated by Alex Hamilton.

The exhibition brings together artists from Ignite Photographic Club, including photographers exploring their individual relationships with light and image-making.

I Have a Dream… is a personal exploration of dreaming at any stage of life. As a child, I dreamed of becoming a ballet dancer. Although that dream never became my profession, the opportunity to photograph ballet dancers many years later allowed me to enter that world through my camera.

Inspired by the movement and atmosphere of Edgar Degas's depictions of dancers, I combine photography with black powder transfer, charcoal, watercolor, handwritten text, and layered imagery. The resulting works explore memory, movement, and imagination, treating each photograph almost like a page from a book.

The series remains ongoing. The dream, too, is still unfolding.
